John brings deep CEO and operator experience to category design. He has raised multiple rounds of investment capital from venture firms and strategic investors and has overseen mergers and acquisitions on both sides of the transaction. As an advisor, he works with CEOs, investors and business executives to identify growth markets and helps develop strategies for raising capital, landing strategic partnerships, and finding exit opportunities.
He serves as a board member for Vendini and CellarPass. Previously, John was the CEO of Ecast, a place-based digital music network. John built Ecast into the largest interactive place-based broadband media network in the U.S. He built and launched a business that provided top retail brands like Nike with interactive media solutions for their retail stores. John also held executive product, sales, marketing and business development positions at Macromedia, Quokka Sports, DimensionX, Sun Microsystems and NCR Corporation.
John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics from Cornell University. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, daughter, son and Springer Spaniel. When he’s not chasing his kids around on various sports fields, he can be found cycling or hiking the hills of Marin County.
